Then it got interesting

The last two weeks have been totally unexpected. If I thought that I was coming here to learn to do mission work and help people, God is starting with something quite different. He is working on us first and in a deep way. Lots of breaking and healing is taking place with all the students. At first I was a bit uncomfortable w/ how intense it was, but it has been a blessing. Almost every day, lots of crying and vulnerability before God and each other. Lots of encouraging words and already alot of growth. There is an almost continual atmosphere of worship and prayer around the base, which has allowed ample opportunity for God's presence. Like I say, I was not expecting this at all and sometimes I still sit back and say, wow God. I like what He's doing. It's a privilege to be here at this time. What will come out of this in our outreach is much more than anything we could do otherwise.

Thank you to everyone has been praying!

This is a free place

Tonight we all met together for prayer and just to socialize and get to know each other. People from Kenya and Germany, Switzerland, Canada, India, the UK and the States, Belgium and Holland all in one room. It was really interesting how we all had this same mission in common. At one point during prayer, a couple people burst out laughing and couldn't stop. It was amusing but not disrespectful, and it was nice that they were free to express their joy in that way.

Earlier in the day when a group of us went walking through the city to get some fresh air and see the sights, it was like a little picture of heaven. People from so many different backgrounds w/ a genuine unity and kindness for each other. We had a good time. More to come.
